#1 Cessna 210 - Short field performance

It was a great day to go out flying, so why not practice a short field takeoff?

I would like to tell you guys that here in Brazil it is common to go to places where the runways are really short, not just short but they are short and dirty, so sometimes it's good to practice some short field takeoffs and landings.

The weather conditions on that day were favorable and the airplane was in proper weight and balance for this operation, as you can see on the video i used only flaps 1 that is about 10 degrees. I decided to use this takeoff configuration because the airplane wasn't too loaded.

I hope you guys enjoy the video and please don't forget to like and subscribe.

Thank you !!

Certainly taking a calculated risk there, fence and powerlines alongside road at threshold, no room for error, blah, blah as every one else pointed out. LOVE the sound of the io520 and three blades as they touch the speed of sound though, sweet.

Yep, for a short field takeoff they would have one to two notches of flaps. Your goal is to get off the ground as soon as possible. Soft field; you'd have the same amount of flaps and aft stick to keep you nose up etc. I'm looking at P210's today.

# 1 line up with the runway. #2 Hold until full power is achieved then release breaks. #3 Do not retract gear to soon, this will induce drag.

Dude if the engine would've failed you would be screwed

retracting gear above remaining runways... especially in SE, you may have pretty good insurance ! Not short at all, at least ground effect helped. Still nice take off !

That is absolutely not a short field take off. That looked like a soft field take off

About how long would you say that was?

What a bunch of crybabies in the comments. it was a great takeoff and he is PIC, not you. weak people...hope you are not pilots, wouldn't want to be in a bad situation with a crybaby. part of the reason I didn't continue flying in the 80s was because the pilots I met at school where such fearful children I didn't trust that they could safely handle an emergency since the school told them when they could and couldn't fly, thats the PICs choice.

Cool takeoff vid. Not short field though.

This is perfectly ok, If you have a plan, you don’t need all the drag if you know your numbers.

Esse tipo de reduçao após decolagem acaba com Motor, sem motivo nenhum esse disparo de hélice...que absurdo.

If I were to purchase an aircraft, I’d purchase a Cessna 210 because of its gear

It's called flying so sometimes it's fun to do a soft-field takeoff, stay low for the speed sensation before pulling up and away. If he had suffered an engine failure it seems to me there was plenty of flat land to do a forced landing. Excluding any ditches, or wires. Lifes like that.
