You know Goku telling himself he's a good boy has a bigger meaning than people think. Goku is the only one how truly innocent at heart he is and knows himself better than anyone. He knows since he was a young boy that all he wanted to do was help everyone who was in need of help.

Goku don't treat himself as a pet, for people that doesn't understand goku, he gave himself aproval and a little love, because he was allways alone no family so this little guy needed a little love, thats how grown up goku is now, he cares.

It's precious that Goku being able to go into the past and knowing he could alter the future to best suit himself. Decides to give his younger self some much needed support 🥺❣️

There's actually an underlying _sadness_ to this scene.
You see, I rewatched all of Dragon Ball a few years ago; and I realized that even though Goku surrounds himself with friends who love and stand by him...No one actually gave him what is on display here. No one gave him approval or validation, a reassuring pat on the head to indicate that he was a good boy and doing the right thing. Most everyone Goku knew was _terrified of him_ and treated him like some kind of time-bomb.

Goku doing what he did here...is probably the only bit of validation that he ever got in his childhood, and shown a moment of unconditional love after Gohan died. And the saddest thing is, he had to do it for himself...because he's the only one who understood that he _needed it._

Most people say Goku is a lousy friend because he enjoys going off and spending time alone. Why wouldn't he when all of his friends freaked out whenever he showed how strong he was? Or when they tip-toed around the fact that they believed he was a _monster_ deep down? No one ever gave Goku a reassuring pat on the back and said, "You're a Good Kid, Goku."
Goku goes off on his own because it's alone that he knows he isn't being judged or condescended to. And people think it's somehow his responsibility to accommodate the others who secretly viewed him as a freak or a tool to facilitate their dragon ball collecting?
