I was recently appointed guardian of my disable Mother by the Circuit Court of Cook County after a trial on the matter. I had an attorney for the trial... but now I do not believe that I need to continue to retain him and would like to terminate the relationship. He has filed with the court a Motion to Withdraw as Counsel with my full endorsement. Will he be permitted to withdraw? Will I be required to retain an attorney now that I have been appointed by the court and issued letters? Thank you so much for your kind assistance.

Just watched the movie “I care a lot”. Main character based on April Parks who apparently easily scammed the system in stealing and abusing the elderly and disabled through guardianship.

So my question is how much of that movie is possible? Would a court judge someone to be a guardian over another without ever seeing the alleged disabled person? Could the alleged disabled person not testify against their guardian either getting a new one or proving it’s all a scam?

With the movie I can not believe the system would be so stupid. And with April, I haven’t been able to find how exactly she was scamming. All I can find is the news covering it and they are more about the drama than the facts of the story.

Can you get married to someone that has a guardianship through a disability if the guardian agrees?
