This is me but I feel like they’re all happening at once

This is exactly what thousands of years ago Indian saints and texts had said. There are roughly three stages in life: "balyakala" the time when we are children and have a happy-go-lucky life, inconsistencies, depression, indecisiveness etc., The next one is "Grihastha" the stage in which a man assumes his duties and takes responsibility of family. The final one is "Vardhakyam" the stage in which we become old and have a desire to connect with God. In this stage, mind gravitates towards the spiritual aspect of life. That's why we can see a lot of old people in temples and spiritual places. Some people even go extreme that they completely abandon their families and join monasteries. Jai hind❤

I think most of us are going through all “stages” at the same time, though priorities are set depending on upbringing, reaction to upbringing, personal experiences, genetics, hormones and a million other factors, not least of which is financial well being. Once you’re beyond survival and on to comfort and sense of security, the option to adjust priorities seems more attainable, but not necessarily a matter of set phases.

At 55 yrs of age, I tend to agree. Sure there may be overlapping, but I’d agree that the predominant focus in each stage is generally as Kierkegaard states.

I think it’s too simplistic. I started on my spiritual path in my early 20’s, and my financial situation didn’t allow for any frivolous stage, unless he means early childhood.🤗❤️🐝

Reading Kierkegaard when I was younger had definitely a huge impact on my spiritual awakening

Pretty true, but this is also simply getting old. If youth and health lasted longer what would occur?

I think he was far more brilliant than any person in his time could have possibly imagined. And he’s still challenging us today.

I think this isn’t the case for everyone as everyone is different, and is therefore untrue.

I just realized that according to Kierkegaard I am in the 3rd stage of life. I am enjoying this stage better than the other 2 stages.

The 3rd state should be renamed to spiritual phase. A religious person believes in something that he doesn't actually know. A spiritual person seeks.

I'm in the spiritual (religious) stage at 69.

The older you get, the more death becomes a reality, and it definitely changes you.

I would agree with others that it resonates with me as well, although the second and third stage were kind of hand in hand for me.

To be honest, i've grown nearer to the first stage as I age. Maybe cause I can finally pay to live for the moment. I was more studious and read a lot of religious and spiritual books in my teens.

See Ken Wilber's Integral Theory/philosophy. This is fleshed out in great detail. He wrote a book called Theory of Eveything by the way 🙂
