South Chennai Waterlogged After Heavy Overnight Rain

The heavy overnight rainfall in Chennai has led to heavy inundation in southern pockets of Chennai. The Chennai Corporation has deployed boats for rescue and more than 500 giant pumps to flush out the water. The weather department has forecast very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the city. The depression is likely to cross between Sriharikota and Karaikal this evening. NDTV's Sam Daniel spoke to a resident and fire and rescue personnel at Ram Nagar where people wade through knee to waist-deep waters. Water has entered several homes too.

Elect educated politicians not someone lame.. How many more rains and cyclones and deaths of people will it take for the useless govt to wake up and do something active instead of inspecting flooded areas from above.

1:27 Mr Kumar is a kanjoos marvari living on a higher elevation. Can't even open the door to let the reporter inside .See the way how he made him stand outside and himself on the otherside of the gate talking standing on his toes, pushing his head above the gate.

India should fallow Singapore style of Proper rain water catchment drainage to connect Lake or pond then surplus water to store on check dam then dissolve to sea remaining. All Road and buildings basement should be higher than Road Level.
