Go with a 100 dollar cpu, 180 dollar rx 6600, 30 bucks for ram and an 70 dollar motherboard. This beats the living crap out of the 8600g and overpriced am5 parts.

I swear, the amount of times these two have put out the same videoconcept at around the same time, Austin and Linus have their cycle synchronized :D

If your going to be doing the cheapest gaming computer. You got to go in to the store and buy the cheapest stuff. NO matter what type it is.

WHY do you build the cheapest PC with an APU and test 1440p ??? Are you ok Austin ?

Not sure if you've made this decision because MC didn't have reasonably-priced RX 6600s in stock on location, but you should've just postponed or declined the video then. At sub- or at 500$ levels, you DON'T go with a very overpriced AM5 APU. You go with a ~100$ CPU and an RX 6600.

The same type of video as linus in less than a week. Coincidence I think so

My rig cost around the same.

It's a Ryzen 7 3800X, 2080 Super, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD and 4TB HDD.

Just gotta shop around.

Guy is so out of touch he forgot what CHEAPEST means.

At entry level, they wouldn't be playing 1440p, they would be happy with 1080p

Be sure to enable EXPO. The extra speed makes a difference. I ran the 8700G for a few days. It was *OK*, but it had power delivery issues.

Well, mine is still cheaper (I stole it)

I love that you released an entire three-hour PC building tutorial, then threw this PC together in ten minutes

For the same price, you could've gone with something like an i3-12100F and an RX 6600. Also, how on earth is this the "cheapest" new gaming PC, and who games at 1440p on an APU?

This seems to be a thinly-veiled promotion for the AMD 8000-series APUs.
What other justification is there for making a "cheapest" PC where all of the components (minus SSD) are far more expensive than the actually-cheapest components?

That case, as it always does (it's an oven!!) killed your time....and all of the latest AM5 boards need a BIOS update for the 8000G series to work. I used an AsRock Lightning board and updated the BIOS without the need to require a processor, it worked great. My 8600G system is making my son a very happy camper as Roblox and Minecraft are his go to's. For the money, it's a great system with room for upgrades down the line.

Two ways this could be changed for better performance. First is faster RAM with the 8600g would have helped as the pack grabbed was only 4800MHz, I bet Austin could have been below $500 with faster ram - a620 still allows RAM overclocking. Second is that a Ryzen 5600x and a RX 6500XT would have cost the same as the 8700g and given better performance on the cheaper AM4 platform.

Also no budget gamer is playing higher than 1080p 😁

Best thing would be get a older gen gpu for that extra 100, like a radeon 580/590
