Kinderdijk, the land of windmills, is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands and one of the most famous Dutch tourist sites.
Built between 1738 and 1740, to keep the water out of the Alblasserwaard polder, the 19 windmills of Kinderdijk are listed as national monuments, and they have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997!!
This is a real piece of the Dutch history, a must see if you are travelling through Holland!
