I feel like people forget this wasn’t that long ago. Also the fact racism was also toward anyone who wasn’t white (Native American, Latino, Asians, etc.), just goes to show you that the world hasn’t changed that much cause we still see a lot of that going on to date.

I haven't seen The Color Purple in so long. It was, by far, one of the most engrossing and underrated movies I have ever watched. My mother was the one who sat me down and told me that this and Roots were to be watched. Watching both, including quite a few other movies, were what brought racism/slavery to light for me and it helped lead me to be the person i am today.
