Just now received an email from IK Multimedia touting/quoting/linking to your Tonex FX demos. Congratulations, Jarrod! Well deserved!

Cool that you brought up the 2 switches and 4 sounds problem. That was one of the first things I thought about but never seen any other reviewer mention it.

Great review. Thank you for putting in all the work. Your assessment of the Nano is on point, IMO. Cheers!

Very cool review. I can respect a product review like this.
I know TONE WARS was initially negative on the Nano when it was first announced etc. So it's awesome to see you praise it here, and still give balanced recommendations. And not be like a lot of modern YouTube channels who just dig deeper into the 'This product is GARBAGE' or the classic 'This product will CHANGE YOUR LIFE' nonsense.

Boost, and a tap tempo or a bpm function would make it a unstoppable force!

I like the way you think. I have a friend who is constantly messing with tone its so annoying.

I captured my Marhall SV20 with the nc and I am absolutely blown away how incredible it sounds. the capture process is vey easy. I get the perfect capture of the sv20 after the 2nd try ;)

Fair review man, but I assume the modulation effects are only available in front of the distortion signal? Or is it like a katana where you can put modulation behind the preamp signal so to speak?

What is the science behind the trs cables ? Now if mixed with pedals. Should thos cables coming in and out be trs cables ?

I know this is off topic but I was wondering which noise gate you use and do you use the 4 cable method where it utilizes the amps input as well as the effects loop? I bought a tc electronics sentry gate and it boost the low end like crazy but takes away a lot of that good fizz when used in 4 cable method making is sound like crap. I am now just using it for the signal chain to amp input then use another cheap gate for the effects loop and it sounds fine except the cheap gate does lower the volume noticably when engaged. I have the badlander 100 watt going into 2 oversized mesa 412 cabs with mr scary mod and odd box for a boost. It sounds amazing until I use the Sentry in 4 cable method.

Looks and sounds great no ODD box on that board ?

This little thing (while nifty) @ $550ish vs ToneX @$400 (with the upcoming effects update) makes me lean towards this Nano IF (and only IF) I were interested in making my own captures of my own amps. I've never been able to afford / justify the really good amps as an amateur bedroom player so the more recent advent of very high quality amp profiles/captures has been the REAL game-changer for me.

That said - what are some advantages of this nano over ToneX with regard to everything other than the capturing ability? I can see a 1/2 point awarded for being a teeny bit smaller but then I'm reminded of the ToneX one if I'm mostly focused on having a super micro-rig(?)

Can you clarify about the TRS cables? When doing my captures, I only capture my amp heads, no cabinet. I use a guitar cable out from the nano cortex to the input of my amp, then a XLR to TRS from my Torpedo Captor X to the jack on the side of the nano cortex. Should i use a TRS cable running from the capture output to the input of the amp? With the setup i'm using now, I hear a slight difference in my captures compared to the amp. The captures have a tad more low end and something a bit different in the high mids or treble range. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You got some great tones. Hope you're having a great day.

Great review 😊
Was going to get a nano but they don’t ship to Canada 😢
So I went with a cheeper version
tank g pedal comes with ANN profiler
And the best part the pedal is only $80 roughly us
Bought it on Amazon getting it tomorrow
So wondering if you would do a review on it
Would love see if $80 can beat it or come close to tonex, cortex, kemper
The poor man’s profiler tank g pedal
Would be an interesting review
Cheers 😊

For someone who never used a real tube amp before it may sounds perfect, but as a mesa boogie mark v 25 and JP-2C owner I cant reproduce the feeling and the more smooth sound of the tube amps (clean or distorted) on any of these units (tonex, nanocortex, quadcortex etc). Ofcourse the audience will never notice the difference but for the guitar player its a different story.

Reason #352 to watch tonewars: Buy TRS cables for outputs of your modeler.
