'ON STAGE', PT. 5 - RICHIE HAVENS

The last two songs from the 1972 "On Stage" live release were included as a freebie 45 in the USA, whereas the European versions had incorporated them as album tracks - for the cost of FIVE of the regular songs: "Handsome Johnny" (Richie's sarcastic introductory comment "We're still fighting to get together" is more than apt!) and "Freedom" in exchange for "The Dolphins", "Nobody Knows (The Trouble I've Seen)", "My Sweet Lord", "No Opportunity Necessary . . ." and "San Francisco Bay Blues" - what a debatable policy!

The US liner notes claim both tracks being recorded at the Westbury Music Fair on May 25, 1972, while the other versions state the Santa Monica Civic Center on March 14, 1971 to be the source for "Freedom" . . . oh, well! But may you enjoy this last part of Richie's "On Stage" package regardless!
