My Maverick finally came in! I was worried I was going to be leaving empty handed. The Focused Garage is back in something Focus-based!

Dealerships are such a ripoff. Even Jim Farley, the Ford CEO is fed up with this and wants to sell direct to customers. Thanks for sharing, great review and love the rant. Our whole Country needs a reset..

I am SO glad that people like you are here posting this kind of stuff for those of us who have little to no experience buying cars. I would 100% out them as a bad dealer and the people in your area deserve to know how shady they are. I'm not planning on buying a car anytime soon but this video will stay with me when I do have to replace mine when the time comes. Thanks for taking the time to make this!

Your experience was exactly like the 3 dealers I tried to do business with when shopping for a Maverick the past 18 months. I finally got my hands on two and had to walk from both due to slimy dealers. I'm not paying a $5-8k markup and $2-4k of useless addons on a Maverick. Paying $7-12k over MSRP for a budget truck is just dumb. I've pretty much given up on the brand. Ford needs to get this under control. I want a Ford vehicle, I can afford any brand/vehicle I want, but refuse to do business with such shady dealers. They're ruining the brand.

I had a similar experience with my Ford dealer, except I walked away from my order. The Maverick I ordered (17 month wait!) was more of a want than a need, so I perfectly comfortable with my decision.

You did a great job describing in detail how this all went down. I'm a retired 35 year car guy, Ford (33 with the same dealer) But I really think you're missing the boat somewhat by not giving the dealers namce. They deserve to be exposed by someone who knows what they're doing and experienced it first hand. Maybe this would influence the dealer community to take a step back and evaluate how they're doing business. I remember an old saying that I hated but I believe is true. "Those who can afford it the least, pay the most for a car"

My goal before going into the dealership is to make them as frustrated as possible, drag the deal until close of business and walk away. I normally go to Quick Trip and get a couple Heath Crunch ice cream bars afterwards. I’m a psychopath.

This is so wrong. Please tell the dealers name so no one else has to deal with a horrible dealer like this. Don't give them cover... Thanks

In the last two months, I’ve purchased two new cars…a Nissan Frontier Pro 4x and a Kia Telluride xPro, both top trim levels. Both experiences had problems that make you detest buying from dealers. Only way to get them to change is to publicly call them out.

After watching your videos I’m sure most people living in IL will think twice before buying anything from Huntley Ford. There’s some bad dealers out there but these guys got to take the cake

That’s a pretty crazy experience. I’m in the car sales business and we would never change the price upon the car arriving, that just sounds like a massive headache and bad customer service. They should have never taken your order or deposit if they didn’t want to sell you the truck at that price point. Everything is supposed to be agreed on prior to ordering

You should definitely give out the name of the dealer so we know who NOT to deal with when purchasing a new Ford vehicle. Thanks for all the info!

I swear it’s a badge of honor for these dealers to see who can be the sleaziest. This is why people despise going to the dealer. Disgusting behavior.

The dealership here in Mississippi was trying to do the same thing to me for $3, 000 above MSRP. I too ordered my Maverick 7 months ago for the agreed price of MSRP plus tax, title and license. They sent me the new invoice and it was going to be $3, 000 more. After some discussion they took that $3, 000 off.

For anyone who doesn't already know, all of that negotiating and waiting for different things is all intentional. Most people hate the car buying process anyway and those waiting periods just add to the stress so it wears people down to where they are willing to sign almost anything just to get the hell out of there.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. That really sucks. Its good that you called up Ford corporate to report this dealership. I heard an executive over there said they would punish dealerships that try to mark up customers with pre-order custom builds. Hopefully they actually follow through on that threat. Thank goodness my experience was a little different. I picked up my Maverick XLT order last week. They did charge me the $480 increase in MSRP from when I first ordered it as well. But at least they didn't do any other mark ups or add-ons. And since they got my financing sorted out before I even got there, I was able to sign the paperwork in 15 minutes after inspecting the vehicle. Pretty quick process.

Waited 16 months for my XLT HYBRID . Arrived last month and my dealer experience was quite positive with no markup or hidden surprises. Went with Ford Folsom, CA, instead of my local (much closer) dealer which had a 10k markup.

Same thing is happening to me right now with the MSRP increase. They're trying to say the purchase order is not a legally binding document if you read the fine print, but can't point to any part of the document that would indicate that. They also called it a "good faith" agreement.

This exact same thing happened to me but at a Toyota dealership. I walked tf out of there and bought a new car at another dealer that knew how to treat their clients 😊

Crazy story! Just picked my maverick up 3 days ago. Walked in, signed msrp paper work. Ford wanted my business, they offered me better apr then my pre approval. Walked out with a 5% apr on my truck. Hearing 8-13% apr 😳 makes me sick. They didn’t add any other crap on the truck, just got wheel and rim protection. I had a good experience with my dealer. They didn’t pull crap like that dealer.
I would have walked out and called corporate. I wouldnt deal with a dealership like that. Straight trash man. Sorry you dealt with that
