thunderbolt 5 ssd enclosures can surpass the internal Mac Studio drive speeds, but they cost a lot more.

I use the presented HW together with my "mac mini pro". the built-in ssd is original from OWC. the speed is great. It gets very warm. The 1 TB ssd used, seems to be responsible for this. A conversion to a Ugreen Enclosure with an active fan makes it even warmer, but is about the same speed. I have a thunderbolt 5 ssd drive from ACASis, also with a fan, equipped with a 4 TB Lexar NM790 and this drive is significantly faster and does not get warm.

Do you use a cooling pad with the OWC?

I bought one of these and get 2, 600 / 2, 800 with a Gen 3 drive. I wanted effective passive cooling and no fans to eliminate noise. I would not really call this enclosure portable as it is bulky and somewhat heavy. I use mine on my Mac Studio so the weight and size are not an issue.

I wanna know how well this works with SN850X as the one I currently use is giving issues!

Not to spilt hairs, but it's USB4/T4 compatible, it's not a true T4 drive. How does it handle heat? Biggest problem with these Gen4 SSD's is the heat they generate when under a load. Also wondering how you can justify this with a 2TB SSD when the new OWC Envoy T5 with 2TB is also $399, and it performs on a par with the internal drive of a Mac Mini M4 Pro.
