I’m also in Central California (Modesto) My tomatoes didn’t do well this year, I think it’s because my garden area has become too shady due to all of the trees around that are growing (which is great except for my tomatoes). I live in the same region as you and I'm having the worst tomato season ever! I was certain it was the heat. I also tried San Marzano tomatoes this year and the are turning mushy. Thanks for all of your information for our area!

Planted 5 plants, 3 in raised beds and 2 in containers...got a total of 10 tomatoes at the most😢 worst year ever! Will try planting in the ground next year.
