I've always played acoustic guitar and I got my first electric guitar after decades of playing. Good Lord, I really need this lesson. My girlfriend and two kittens will appreciate this. I've scared them a few times with various noises coming out of the amp. 😳
Thank you Mark. ✌️❤️

I've never really played super loud, but one time I went to a friends house to jam and the amount of extra noise was insane. I really needed this video.

Such a good lesson/tip!
I don't know what to call it, string strategy? Anyway, something that when amplified will humble a player, and not in a bad way, just eyes open!
Great video

I had to watch again ! The tips are really great Mark ! On a production side, I've shut down sections of billiard rooms before, to eliminate the dreaded buzz sound through the pa, cause of neon lights. I had one manager say, "you can't do that, I'll lose money. I said, that's right cause if I don't, we pack up, and your left without a band for the night !" I'm not talking a local band either ! If I said who, and where, you would know them. Any way great video !

Great tip on using the right as well as the left hand to control the notes. One of the reasons I always preferred acoustic playing. I didn't know how sloppy my fretting was. Teachable moment!

I am about 99% an acoustic player, but still appreciated these tips. Maybe someday I will start really learning the electric.

Being an old roadie and being in sound and lighting from days gone by. That rings true for stage and house sound too. I use to watch performers test production crews ability to keep everything under control. Country singer/songwriter Eddie Raven after sound check, would do one last test. He would step in between the monitors on stage with a hot mic, and if you didn't catch the feedback in like 2 seconds, you were gone ! I personally watched two monitor world techs get canned on the spot !

Great tips Mark! One of the other things I struggle with is how to properly set up my amp for different sounds.

Good tip. I'm purely an acoustic player. I don't use an amp with either of my guitars and haven't really had the control issues that you describe here. I have thought about crossing over to the electric side but don't know where I'd want to start. After 37 years, it would b a sizable leap. Maybe, there's a video theme there... diving into electric guitar from a purely acoustic history.

Nice vid man!! This ability might seem easy but it really takes some time to master!! Another great skill to practice (that goes hand in hand with this) is the Hendrix/John Mayer/SRV note slam, where you mute everything except the notes you want to play, and that makes them sound so much bigger than just nornally picking them!!
