2 injured after shooting in Downtown Las Vegas, police say

Metro police investigated a shooting involving 2 people in the Downtown Las Vegas area on Thursday evening.
According to police, 2 people were injured with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital following the shooting.

I was an eyewitness to the shooting there was a group who got into an altercation with the man and he pulled out a uzi and shot them he also aimed at me and shot luckily I wasn’t harmed

Vegas has been absolutely packed for over a year due to pent up demand after Covid. The town and state are raking in revenue hand over fist so there is no need to spend a lot on security UNTIL folks actually stop going there. If revenue drops off due to this concern they will react and upgrade security.

The problem is that there is no incentive to fix things as long as folks don't mind the danger.

Just returned from a 5 night stay downtown. Security did not seem very present or as serious as I thought would be after last shooting. Only difference I noticed was the gates on 3rd street next to Four Queens and McDonalds keeping people from entering. I can imagine gates going up on the 3rd and Ogden side now. Probably, will not be staying downtown again, next two trips planned for the strip already. Hope the victims recover fast.

I didn't realize how much danger I was truly in living in Vegas. I live in NYC now and feel SO MUCH SAFER.
I hope Vegas can figure something out. It's a lovely town being overrun by corruption that keeps policy from moving forward and working properly.

LVMPD need to "step up" on the patrols of Fremont Street as this is a MAJOR tourist attraction and actions like this are starting to SCARE off tourists as an UNSAFE area!!!
