While speaking on Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen losing the bronze medal match to Malaysia's Zii Jia Lee in Badminton Men's singles at Paris Olympics, former Badminton player Prakash Padukone expressed his disappointment on August 5.He said, “He played well. I am a little disappointed as he could not finish it. Yesterday also he was in a winning position in the first game, it could have made a difference yesterday itself. Today also, after winning the first, he was leading 8-3 in the second. He has always been a little uncomfortable playing on the faster side or playing with the wind. He needs to work a little more on that...He was low on confidence...There are a few areas on which we definitely need to work on...I am disappointed that we could not even win one medal in badminton...This time the government, SAI (Sports Authority of India), TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme) everybody has done their bit. I don't think anybody could have done anything more than what the government, sports ministry, SAI, TOPS...I think it is high time some of the players also need to take some responsibility.”

He is so cute and well played. He needs more stress management. Give him professional counselling, he will do it next time.
He could easily win the semi if he could manage the stress.
This is the problem of Indians, we Indians are so emotional, give more importance to emotions than intelligence.
Our players are also part of this society. Give them special training to be more professional and use intelligence over emotions, they will make it especially Lakshya, he is still young

You are right. Not all players suffer the same. But all of them find it easy to blame everyone expect themselves.

This is old India speaking! He is from my time. We never expected a medal anywhere, forget the olympics. The youth of new India don't mind falling on their back and rising again! Lakshya Sen is just 22 and I don't know him. My advise, don't listen to geriatrics!

He may be right but you should never criticise a player (or anyone) publicly. This is wrong.

There is something wrong with his psychology. E very time he plays so well in the beginning, but loses very badly then after. Does he think he has already won by then? on THE OTHER HAND WHEN HE IS LAGGING BEHIND HE LOSES CONFIDENCE AND THROWS AWAY THE GAME UNLIKE THE OTHER OPPONENTS WHO FIGHT BACK VIgOROUSLY.
We Indians has the genetical illness of lacking the killing instinct. A coach with motivating talent is required to implant the fighting spirit of these players and to establish the killing instinct when in command.
On the other hand, why Sen did not smash when he had opportunities? His returns were soft, enabling the opponent to smash at will. Sad, such a huge county like ours could not produce a single gold medalist until now.

Very unprofessional to speak like this - shaming the player to the press.

Rahul dravid never came up said that the rohit and virat win the bilateral series but failed to win the odi world he accepted the loss as a team and later on they went on to win the t20 world he never pinpointed the loss on the players .

O achaa, if medal comes its your credit, if it doesn't come, its players fault.

You know what, you are not young coach, like pulela gopichand and sindhus last time coach was only 40 .
This time why retired celebrity Dipika Padukone father was sent with govt money, only for show off.

Mediation coaches were added thinking yoga meditation can bring medaks, but no use. Yoga is waste in sports.

Sports itself is high-level..
