Huawei Sales Grow 23% as Impact of U.S. Sanctions Looms

Jul.30 -- Huawei Technologies Co. saw revenue rise 23% in the first half as the company warns of future difficulties from U.S. sanctions. Bloomberg's Peter Elstrom reports on "Bloomberg Surveillance."

Never thought about buying huawei phone until the US sanction on them. Huawei must be having such a great product that US has to take them as a threat. Huawei will definitely be my next phone.

US needs to compete like what athletes do in Olympic games. Tripping over your competitors (no one believes what government accuses Huawei of) is not only against common moral standards but also will eventually work against you (lack of support, boosting moral of competitors, forcing competitors to do better). The best way and the only real way is to honestly out compete your competitors.


Each time such news pops up is basically a slap on face for these "loser" US leaders. We need smarter and better leaders in US. Disappointed so far since US definitely can do much much better in any ways you can think of.

It's getting harder and harder to scoop up the little “evidence” there are to paint a gigantic company like Huawei black. To me, all the accusations on Huawei sound trivial and eventually degenerate into a series of isolated and barren conceits after they are repeated again and again to achieve "volume". The interpretation of these few incidences of Huawei's past "mischiefs" also appear forced, unconvincing and far fetched.

Largely contributed by aggressive sales and promotion to dump existing mobile phone models at ridiculous low price. Revenue may appeared growth, profit will suffer greatly. In one to two quarter time, HW reality will reveal itself.

Moore's law is still in operation although possibly at a slower rate than in the 1980s. This is why $500 buys you a phone which is twice as fast as the phone that you could buy for the same price from Huawei 18 months ago. The Huawei P30 is equivalent to the iPhone XS for only half the price. Apple gets the same savings from Moore's law as Huawei do only they choose to bank the savings and not pass them onto their customers. Huawei's prices in Europe were so attractive that last year they sold a quarter of all of the phones in Europe. Trump may persuade most European buyers that Huawei phones are insecure. However price is so important in Africa and India that people in those countries will continue to buy lots of Huawei phones.

I wouldn't call this real growth. Word on the street is Huawei is getting rid of their stockpiled inventory, and selling at very cheap prices.


Real growth is selling inventory and making solid profit, not just trying to break even. This looks more like a PR move.
