Nissan Navara D40 or Pathfinder R51 lacking power and blowing excessive smoke?

This video will show you the most common reason for this and how to fix it.

We have replaced dozens of these, they don’t log any trouble codes you just lose power and blow a heap of black smoke.

The Boost solenoid is a common problem with these vehicles and not a hard part to replace.

We recommend a egr block plate and catch can for these vehicles as well to prevent any carbon build up

This video was useful in explaining where a power loss might come from, but the problem on my Navara D40 2006 was the vacuum pipe on the left hand side of the engine, opposite side from the turbo, being perished and split and not even feeding a vacuum to the vacuum solenoid. So check your vacuum pipes *before* bothering with the vacuum solenoid.

yeah good work ... I hade same problem but was a vacuum line with a crack so don't forget to check vac line's before spending big coin on boost solenoid

I did the head gasket on my D40 Navara. It all went well but it was sluggish afterwards. Turns out I forgot to plug the solenoid back in. Hahaha. Easy fix.

Also broken EGR valve can cause same symptoms, the valve disc inside the unit snaps off from the weld.

I have done the test on 2006 Pathfinder but the pipe sucks close and does not expand. Do you perhaps know the problem. also has loss of power and black smoke

Hey mate, thanks for the vid. I have an 09 d40 auto 2.5 thats just lost all power when taking off from the lights, but once you get going it comes good just with less power. dpf light then came on so took it for long drive in 4th 2500 rpm and the dpf light cleared itself. still no acceleration though and if you try to give it pedal when down low she blows blackish smoke and goes nowhere. Do you think could still be boost solenoid faulty? torque app shows 18 psi once I get up to speed but not down low? also throws egr codes recently. cleaned maf and all plugs but no luck yet. Any thoughts, cheers.

Great Video. I have a 2012 Pathfinder and after lending it to my sister, who had 4 large AFL sons and luggage, I noticed the turbo blow off valve was actuating every time I took my foot off the gas. I also lose acceleration and power going uphill and it becomes slow to respond if you attempt to accelerate fast. This issue comes and goes like this and I get no engine light. Any help or ideas what it could be would be appreciated.

I've got a solid intercooler pipe how would I know of the solenoid is bad? It blows a bit of black smoke when foot to the floor but it's also got the dpf removed and the egr blocked off running 19psi boost

My pathy is struggling with power. But when i squeeze the hose it expands easily under revs. Whag else could it be? So far ive replaced my scv, maf sensor, oil and air filters.. had it in 2 garages and they cant work it out either. Help
