DJI Spark First Flight Outside

The DJI Spark has arrived and it's awesome! It's the smallest DJI drone to date but possesses the excellent build quality and refinements that the larger drones do! There are advantages to smaller drones. Although the camera at this point in time isn't as good as the larger drones, the DJI Spark's camera is still excellent quality in my opinion. #DJISpark

I think the best way in these situations, is to hand catch it, and rotate it over 90 degrees to shut off the motors immediately! no worries because it is stated in the dji manual!

I was laughing at the end with that landing. That LOL. OMG! feeling of adrenaline we get when our drone does something that we didn't tell it to do. Lol I'm assuming at the end of the video when attempting to land, the fail safe ascension Rth kicked in at around 30% and went straight up to rth. At that point you cancelled it and brought it down manually before the auto rth kicks in at 10% and nothing we can do. lol it's going to land brotha! that what happened at the end? Either or. You handled it excellent on that boat. Can't wait for my spark to get here. Videos are excellent bro. Keep em coming!

Hey IrixGuy...Would you be able to do som Return to Home tests on the Spark vs. Mavic Pro and Phantom? I saw something interesting on another YouTube channel and was wondering if it was accurate: When first taking off if you start to move horizontally right away the RTH lock isn't very accurate...but if you go vertically (don't move horizontally) at least 33 feet and only THEN start to move horizontally the RTH lock is highly accurate..like within inches. Apparently the downward facing camera gets a much better overall view of the take off area from that height and can use that for a very accurate RTH.

I think the reason why you had problems landing was because that yellow thing is one solid colour. I reckon if it had a pattern or some kind of texture, the VPS would have something to 'see' better. But, what happens is, it sees nothing, then sees it's own shadow (which is slightly to one side because of the Sun position and moves closer to directly underneath as the Spark gets lower). This confuses it

Just wait it's going to have lots of updates your Dji always surprise us is going to have a fixed wing mode also and they going to upgrade the Active track and also the video software is going to improve just like the mavic pro

It looks to have electronic stabilization, it holds on to the image and then suddenly lets it go. I think that is how they get away with having a 2D gimbal instead of a 3D one. It creates a little bit of a jerky pan but that is a good trade off for getting steady video.
