Try this:
classic satureted color palette,
Primary -> brown (lighter one)
secondary -> black
Tertiary -> brown (darker one)
accents -> leave as it is or try some brighter yellow for a gold look; alternatively, use a grey color for a metal finishes look
Energy -> what you want (i use bright red)
attachments -> i only use the chest piece of avia solstice armor

Me personally, I would add browns for a genuine leather effect, maybe some dark as the primary and a dark brown (leather looking brown) as the secondary
