Grace Kelly was once one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. In 1954, she took home the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Country Girl, but Kelly is most remembered for her work with acclaimed director Alfred Hitchcock throughout the early ‘50s. In 1955, the actor met Prince Rainier III of Monaco and a year later, the two were married.

Grace Kelly dropped everything in her life to become a princess, and there’s been plenty of speculation regarding her life post-Hollywood and her marriage to the prince. Grace Kelly's marriage was more complicated than you thought, so let’s break it down.

Grace Kelly’s wedding dress was the most iconic wedding dress of the century.

I will never forget Prince Rainer’s face during his wife’s funeral. He was absolutely heartbroken.

Rear Window!! Her outfits were fabulous! She was an icon. A beautiful bird 🦢 in a gilded cage. Sad ending 😪

I really think this was the most beautiful actress ever. Incomparable beauty. Class, poise. Nothing trashy. She didn't have to do the wrong things. Grace had partners but this was before she was married. Lovely lady. X

I credit Grace with sticking with her life although she was very unhappy. She made the best of it. Her name Grace, suited her as she was always the epitome of grace. I never tire of watching her movies...she was exquisite. It's a shame that graciousness is seen less and less these days.

Sadly, Grace looked very mournful while walking down the aisle at her wedding to the Prince of Monaco.

Of course Grace Kelly knew she would have to give up acting!

She is the most beautiful woman in the world that I've seen. A perfect shape of face, so charming, sweet and appealing.

To me, she was always “Grace Kelly, ” never “Princess Grace, ” although if ever there was a woman’s face fated to be royalty, it was hers. She was the epitome of beauty. Helen of Troy was said to have “the face that launched a thousand ships.” Helen must have looked exactly like Grace Kelly! It is almost impossible for me to say which of her movies I liked best, because I rarely looked at anything in her movies but that stunning face. I am 72 years old, and I can name many gorgeous Hollywood screen stars; but, Grace Kelly is at the top of my list.

A man who tries to stop his wife's fulfillments is about his insecurity and need for dominance. It is not about love. Grace looked like she was at a funeral at her wedding ceremony. She knew the dearth of freedom she was entering.

Her life was so identical with Princess Diana, when Princess Grace said about her mum and Oleg Cassini, i totally understood her. I had the same problem with my mum and the person, that i loved. It is so sad, when parents don't let you choose your own tale and you feel abandoned from all the happiness in the world and you don't know what will happen with you, you just don't care anymore. You try to move on, but deep down you have a giant hole inside your heart and you can never recover from that.

Sad that both Grace and Diana died due to car accidents.

All the actresses of that era had so much poise, class and were just beautiful. They just had a way of carrying and presenting themselves. Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman, Rita Hayworth. Who are your favorites?

She was an adult woman, with free will and financial independence, who chose to get married and no-one ever knows what goes on inside a marriage, unless they choose to talk about it and neither of them ever did.

She sacrificed her life for an unhappy unwanted marriage. Nothing commendable or courageous about

She does NOT look happy. You can be reserved/classy AND happy at the same time. But she doesn't look happy.

Sad. For all the glamor, her life was unfulfilled. She moved from a movie star with roles to play, friends to meet to a royal breeder of children. I cannot imagine a more boring life, or being married to such a crashing bore as Rainier. He was a spoiled brat too, cutting her off from her friends. And she had to please her parents with her marriage choice. Imagine if she had married Oleg Cassini. She would still be making movies and having a happier life. So many women throw away their careers for a man.
