In our latest dyno test we have this brand-new 2024 G05 BMW X5 xDrive50e in for tuning and testing. After an installation of our specifically designed Pro Petrol SENT chip tuning box, it was up on the rollers to see what the engine could achieve.

The 194bhp electric motor is paired with very capable B58 engine, which we have already seen a lot of on this channel, so we already know the tuning potential from this X5. Our linked, braked 4wd dyno suited perfectly here for BMW’s All-wheel drive xDrive system.

Another thing to note, is that these vehicles currently have locked ECU’s with no way to read or write the ECU data. This means that while traditional remapping is impossible, our tuning box can give owners the opportunity to make fantastic gains without requiring a traditional ECU flash. This has the added benefit of being traceless once removed for warranty purposes.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how the X5 feels to drive.

Peak power was increased, as we were able to lift it from 487hp at stock, up to 601hp with the box. If you take a look at the dyno graph here 0:41 you can see how we change that curve (dotted red and blue lines). We give real consistency here, bringing that extra power in as soon as possible, whilst holding it for as long as possible throughout the rev range. Looking closer at the section beginning at around 4500rpm, you can really see the increase compared with stock, as our tuned run continues to climb, in the places where the stock power had already begun to level out.

Torque also saw some great improvements. Stock figures showing slightly higher than what is claimed, producing 723Nm instead of the 700Nm claimed, but not particularly unusual to see strong stock figures here, as they can often push higher than BMW claim. At stock the engine produced 723Nm and now 856Nm with the box. If you take another look at the graph (solid lines), you can really see where we have applied those gains, allowing those torque improvements to be applied through the revs, giving that increase exactly where it’s needed.

The potential on this car is super interesting, the gen 3 B58 is a much bigger upgrade than the gen 2 was over gen 1. With a flash tune these things might be pushing 800hp with a stage 1 tune(JB4 already putting down 500+whp on a stock Gen 3 740i)

How much extra fuel consumption with that tune? impressive none the less, with a full exhaust system and some other light mods i think this would leave the X5M competition in the rear view morror

So it takes until 3500rpm to exceed stock? Every day driving won’t be as torquey. What was the 0-60 or 0-100kmh improvements?

Interesting to see 0-100 km/h 100-200 km/h. Does it change top speed? Hade other tune on my old BMW and it did over 265km/h when tuned.

487Hp/533FtLbs measured on stock tune, ...@ the Wheels! Really!! Is BMW quoting that much of a lie, or are they simply repeating advertised Hp and Torque?
