I backed it, but not playing it really until 3.0.

Just waiting patiently. I really hope they can pull it off to the level they they are going for.

I believe they can. Just going to wait.

I completely agree with you, it's amazing that the devs have delivered what they have promised so far, and how polished everything is. The alpha 3.0 impresses me a lot, and i really got my hopes up when I saw how easily they made huge and distinct planets at CitizenCon, that really shows that they are able to finish this.

When I get the game I'm gonna test it, and see what their engine can do. I'm gonna fly into a star, try getting into orbit, crash with other ships mid-quantum jump, run over someone on a landing pad, get a buggy on top of a space ship, and even fly into the mouth of a giant desert worm.

Hey Fry, first of all: nice video! It's good to see YouTubers covering Star Citizen who are not themselves completely invested in the game and give it an honest look. As others have stated before, you don't have to buy a ship for $100. I'd go with a combo pack for $72 or if you are completely uninterested in either the single player games (Squadron 42) or the MMOFPU (massively multiplayer first-person universe) part that is Star Citizen you can also go with one of the packages for $54, but that doesn't really make sense for most gamers.

Waiting for Alpha 3.0 is probably a smart idea. Just know in advance that it will still be a long road until all of the systems are in place that will make it a full game. YouTuber "BoredGamer" released an excellent video shortly after CitizenCon 2016 titled "Star Citizen Roadmap & Releases Now - 2017", which will list what will release when.

Just note that 3.0 will open up one Star System, the Stanton system. What has been playable so far is a rather small chunk around one of the four major planets inside this system - planet Crusader and its moon Yela.
Other star systems will be added to the game with Alpha 4.0, but don't expect this to make landfall before beginning of 2018 and it is unclear how many systems will be added in the first wave.
Many systems like trading, ship buying, quantum interdiction, in-game voice chat, mining, repair, research/science/exploration and many more will be gradually added to the game.

See you in the verse!

I respect your honest scepticism man. Good video and as an Avid SC backer I can respect your opinion. We are fanatics, but we just want the BDSSE (Best Damn Space Sim Ever). Shit that sounded like i'm in a cult (Join Us...). Anyways. Good video and see you in 3.0 soon man. :D

My plan is to be a Mercenary who helps with boarding, turret gunning, salvage, whatever to make a buck. I'm a pretty terrible pilot with mediocre ships but I just want to be able to drop in, have a blast, and go on my merry way. After all, with all of these "multi-crew ships", there's going to be plenty of work.

The thing with Star Citizen, that kinda failed at no man sky, is deadlines, No man sky had a very strict deadline they worked hard to keep up with. Star Citizen doesn't have a specifik deadline, they just go with the flow and take their time building the game, to insure that it's going to contain the things they promise, and including additional things they never talked about. Kinda the same flow as Minecraft.

It's not Roberts Space Industries, it's Cloud Imperium Games.
I've been following Star Citizen for about a year now, and I've got $155 invest in total. I do not think it will fail, but it will take a while, two very different things.

I was skeptical with u, but said 'f' it and gave $45 for a small ship and download'd it...I'm impressed, even with the alfa version. a few things need polish'n, but this is not the complete version, so I'm cool with that. 3.0 should be a beast...

Im going to be like a bounty hunter. Im sure there will be a system of criminals and a reward for them so ill probably focus on that. I'm going to have soo much fun hunting you down Fry.

it's so hard after no man's sky press videos that were no where close to the actual gameplay

Can't vote because I honestly don't know whether or not it'll succeed. The more ambitious something is, the greater the chance of something going horribly wrong.

You better fucking believe I hope it succeeds though. (in such an event I'd probably be an explorer/defender) Could be a much needed kick in the pants for the "Let's play it safe" gaming industry.

Stealing ships out from under people like that will be possible, but not easy. You will of course be a wanted criminal for stealing, and you will need to have the ship's hull ID hacked to hide it from the authorities. The new hull ID is also needed so you can insure the ship yourself or sell it. After all, you wouldn't want every bounty hunter out there to attack you on sight when they see your ship has been reported as stolen.

I want to do mainly trade, science research, and mining, but I am interesting in dabbling in everything. So far CIG has not disappointed. Chris Roberts seems to think more along the lines of "you're not thinking big enough" rather than "that's good enough".

If you do end up buying in before release I would suggest doing so before the single player Squadron 42 goes full price so you can get both together for cheaper. Right now both together are $60 ($45 each separately) and that is all you ever need to buy as everything can be purchased in game. I would guess that SQ42 might release next year and Star Citizen in 2-4 years, but those are just wild guesses as no one really knows.

Compared to other MMOs, the SC development time and budget are within normal ranges for AAA games. I've been following the game since the pre-kickstarter days and there is a lot I don't know about the game. Frankly, without a heck of a lot of study it would be hard for anyone to know the history of all of the information the dev team releases on this game. There is a lot of information only found in reddit posts, official website articles, official forums, youtube videos (official and not), twitch streams and comments, twitter, and Con presentations.

I was going to back "Dual Universe" but decided not to just incase it's shit. It also isn't coming out until 2018.
