I'm not so sure on the bamboo torture? By my own ignorance, unleashing a running 40foot tall growing bissetts bamboo in my backyard with no barriers I'm always cutting it. The shoots that pop up every spring in the lawn are very delicate and are easily broken. They don't reach their full strength for another 2 years or so. That's said this is the bissetts bamboo and the only large growing one I've dealt with but it won't grow thru some one. There may be one that will but I really can't see that happening.
