Today I am swatching a huge ink haul that was sent to me by Naomi from The Inky Hobbit. She provided me with an assortment of brown inks that she had tried in the quest for the perfect brown ink. What is your favorite brown? Is it one that I have sampled here? Leave your recommendations in the comments.

Ginger Chicken is like my perfect autumn/winter colour. I bought a bottle, no regrets! I really like rich, red-leaning browns. The ones that looks like chocolate are the ones I'm most drawn to.

How could I not watch this video, I am always on the hunt for more browns that I love (I have not really met one I don't love). Thanks for sharing :)

That was an undertaking! So many browns, a personal favorite category of mine. My current favorite is Private Reserve Copper Burst, which surprised me because I normally prefer the green and yellow leaning shades - your dreaded poopy shades😅.

Oh well, browns. That's a difficult color for me too. I really don't like reddish browns and I tried them. My favourite browns are Herbin Cacao du Brésil (a dark greyish brown), Diamine Golden Brown a caramell color but not orangey and Robert Oster Dark Choclate that you can argue about if it is a brown at all (it's either a brownish dark purple oder a dark purplish brown). 🤷‍♂
About your Earl Grey Sample. I immedeately saw that you diped a used q-tip into the sample. It could be that you swatched Earl Grey on a different paper befor but for me it looks like you used a q-tip with brown ink on it and diped it into the Earl Grey sample. 😧
The writing with the brass nib looks a lot more like Earl Grey. Of course if I'm right, the sample was already contaminated.

I have Diamine Earl Grey in my grey inks line-up for this week and it‘s definitely a very grey grey… :D

I am BAFFLED by the Earl Grey….I double-checked my bottle and it’s NOT brown! Thank you for sharing. My favorites from all of those are Winter Wood and Ginger Chicken😊

My Diamine Earl Grey bottle contains gray ink. There is another Earl Grey: Dominant Industries Earl Grey which is a brownish orange or maybe a orangish brown.

I like reddish, orangish brown inks. I don't like chocolate, coffee, or other browns. I find them flat, where as the reddish browns/orangish browns pop.
I only have 2 browns. One is Noodler's Kiowa Pecan. I can't say enough good things about the ink, except it does take a bit to dry. It has such a wonderful shading range. I call it a "soul" ink because it makes my soul happy. I have only 30ish inks, and very few inks get that distinction.
The other ink is Diamine Ancient Copper. That is definitely orange-brown, but it really pops. It shades well and has some sheen. A.C. was one of the reddit inks, as was Earl Grey ( I don't know what happened to your sample)
The other 2 inks I have seen and have heard good things are MB Toffee Brown. The swatch looks much darker on screen than what I've seen in person and on other videos. The other brown is the ever popular SBRE Brown by Akkerman. Good luck finding it though. Why are my comments always so

160! I'm impressed! As soon as I stopped buying bottles my ink samples exploded. I was supposed to stop at 75, but I now have close to 100. FP Meetups are dangerous places!

I like the poopy brown inks 😂 I have a sample of Winter Wood, and I should probably try that one out; I love how deep and dark it looks. Have you tried Noodler's Beaver? It seems to lean more red than Sailor 50 States Texas. I have a mostly full bottle and would love to share if you'd like to test your limits on reddish browns.

If you can try getting your hands on Diamine "Damp Squib" it's an exclusive from Art From The Heart based in England, I recently got it and I got to say it is not bad. They also have 3 others that are exclusive to them too. "Throttle Bottom" "Failing Upwards" and "Fluster Cluck" all collaborations with Diamine.
