Obviously Joe Jenkins should be in the game, but also guys like Dierdre, Bolin and Captain Blackthorn would each be really interesting in the game, and that would help some underappreciated heroes.

Dierdre could be a dedicated tank/ healer, with a teleport skill that gives units armor.

Bolin would be a sniper that can build barrells so that enemy can not pass or put oil on the ground that increases movement cost (and we only have 2 technician characters right now, and not a single hero in the class)

Captain Blackthorn could summon the kraken, but also provide bonus rewards outside of battle.
That would make him unique, since so far no character has had outside of battle effects, and money is always nice.

Other than that, Mirage (because of the meme) and Dante could be cool characters

And for regular characters the necromancer, who can revive fallen enemies as a skeleton and has the plague ability for crowd control, as area poison
