Saint Ephraim of Katounakia was contemporary of Saint Joseph the Hesychast; both of whom were recently canonized by the Orthodox Church into the ranks of the Saints. Saint Ephraim spent 65 years on Mount Athos as a monk, striving in his ascetical works in the Katounakia desert. 1 Corinthians 9/1 Am I not an apostle? Am I not a freeman? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?
2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 10/1 Now I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of how all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and they were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea

So Paul is an apostle to them in Corinth, Greece. He addresses their forefathers who went with Mose under the cloud and through the Red Sea, only Israelites did that hence he calls them brothers in the sense kinsmen, so we know the Greeks were Israelites.
