Christian rappers (or rappers that are Christian) are really lyrical activists. We need freedom of speech, and it "seems" like major labels restrict artists in that aspect.

Sum it up, Labels are BUSINESSES, and will treat your art form in a business manner with monetary value as a priority. Whereas independent artists can release freely and work as they wish, artists through a label will have to work through THEIR process. They are expertise in their field, and they know how to break a record. But that means you have to sacrifice your control of the music, it's not necessarily evil, that's just how the business works. They will invest millions into you as an artist, but you will have to come to terms with the fact you are a BRAND to them.

I always saw that Lecrea was doing God’s work this whole time. Sometimes God tells you to go places others might not understand but I always saw good fruit coming from him. That’s how I knew he never swayed away from Jesus.
