We told my Italian father in law we were taking him somewhere special for Father’s Day. When we pulled up to Olive Garden he started cussing us out in Italian. 😂😂😂

Consumers in the US are overloaded constantly with sugar and salt. Its in everything.

Your mom is right. We, the USA, puts sugar in everything, very different from Europe. If you’ve ever given up sugar in your diet for a while and then eat something like a hamburger bun, it tastes oddly sweet.

I think the fact that the pasta was al dente and the appetizers were good is a huge compliment to Olive Garden. I assumed the older Italian woman would hate everything there.

People who go to Olive Garden for real Italian food are the same people who go to Taco Bell and call it Mexican food.

I wanna be that one american who goes to Italy and finds an American restaurant just to criticize their version of a cheeseburger

i don’t think that they put sugar in the sauce but I think it might be in the pasta— from what I’ve heard from other people who aren’t American, every wheat product like bread, crackers, etc. tastes sweeter than those products in other countries. although I will say I know a lot of Americans put sugar in tomato sauce, so sweetness is definitely an American thing

Wow I thought I was sensitive to added sweeteners but I never noticed this at Olive Garden. Guess I got used to it. The sugar count is hilaaaarious! 😆

I love how she's still honest about liking the lasagna and ziti. As opposed to her sister that literally just hated everything. People need to understand that Olive Garden is not meant to be authentically Italian. It's Italian American food that's meant to cater to the American taste.

I feel the same about food in the US! Even the bread is sweet compared to the UK 😅

Sometimes it's not the sauce that's sugary, it's the noodles have fermented as in spoiled. As a chef i go through all the lowboys(fridges) and check the mise en place (all our ingredients) and make sure nothing is spoiled and pre portioned noodles in bags are often super sugary smelling when they're rotten

When she's so disappointed she crosses her arms and doesn't even get angry enough for the fingers.
