I recently bought a BSNL sim. I am from Odisha and live in the capital and the network speed is pretty good here. At some places i get 4g and the speed is about 30Mbps, but majorly it's 3g. The prices are pretty low so calls and sms are done for. I use wifi everywhere and mobile data pretty less ..so it's manageable for me.

I am from Gonda(UP)
Speed test=25mb/s of BSNL
12mb/s OF JIO
10-15mb/s OF AIRTEL
10-12mb/s OF VODAFONE
So BSNL is a little bitter fast than all telecom network.
BSNL support 4G in my area.

User for BSNL sim for more than 8 years and i should say, even in major cities like trivandrum and Kochi, 4g network is growing in a medium speed. But, long before they have provided stable 4g service in High range districts. Even where Jio and Airtel literally are dead, BSNL stands high in terms of coverage and even network. As you said, being a government company, BSNL is doing their basic job well that is to ensure connectivity in the country. But, now the jio and Airtel are inconsistent when connected to 5g mode. This inconsistency along with pice hike have made things to be in favour of BSNL i think. Now, i think in Kerala most major cities and villages are getting 4g and even Volte. Keep going BSNL.

As a person who has been using bsnl his whole life, I want to say : I did not buy this sim my dad got me a bsnl sim when i was in 9th grade, I remember recharging for 14rs which gave 110mb for 3 days, and yes the speed is quite slow but now i have a second airtel sim and mainly use bsnl for calls and messages and my main data consumption is through WiFi so it's okay..

If u have wifi and you mostly stay at home, and u need phone for only calls, BSNL is an great option, like for students and workaholics and not for PPL who stay out mostly...

In my family, almost 5 to 6 SIM cards used by relatives were from BSNL. It's important to resist JIO's monopoly by keeping our support for BSNL strong.

I hope you had a wonderful time visiting Kerala.
Sending you lots of love from Kerala!

My father AGM in BSNL. I have secondary Sim and using BSNL for years. In Kolkata I don't get 4g but in H+ (3g) it provides pretty good speed. Problem is in some areas it's network is not good except that it has pretty good speed

While using bsnl internet, when 4g don't appear, try switching network preferences from 3g to 4g enable use to 4g network, I use this method everytime to use 4g. It's amazing network of bsnl 4g just like jio 5g.
If anyone thinking of buying it, just go ahead.

I still recommend bsnl as secondary no and also for parents... But dont use bsnl for banking transactions as we need sms ...for some time dont make it primary if not in 4g region.

I am in Sandila and here BSNL is giving constant 4G any time in inside home with a speed of upto 20mbps and it is quite surprising. No call drops no network issue working very very fine

In the Indian market, speed is not the primary consideration for consumers in tier 2, tier 3 cities, and rural areas. Instead, pricing plays a more significant role in influencing their purchasing decisions.
