I'm so old I remember that being confined to your room for an entire day in the summer while you could hear your friends playing ball outside all day was the absolute worst punishment imaginable.
Being forced to stay inside for any reason was sheer torture. We stayed out from first thing in the morning until it was to dark to see.

Back in 1975, I used to make the long drive from NAS Lemoore to Riverside CA each weekend. Passing through Lancaster, I would stop at McDonalds for two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. Satisfying! I could eat them without looking at them while driving.
