Alot of anti's would agree that knowledge is power. But fail to implement knowledge about firearms. Their whole strategy is to act like the gun shouldn't be known about.

I am calling for 20 foot fences around all bodies of water than cannot be drained. All reservoirs have a 10 gallon limit, and if they can hold more than 10 gallons, they may only be filled with 10 gallons. So what if people die of dehydration, as long as it saves 1 child from a senseless drowning.

I agree completely! The NRA has been teaching kids firearm safety for years with their Eddie Eagle program.

Back when I was in the 6th grade (1989) my entire class went through a 3-day hunter education & firearm safety course at school during school hours. We finished up by shooting some skeet out behind the school cafeteria with a Mossberg 20 gauge shotgun. These days they'd call in a S.W.A.T. team if you tried that!

Hell of a good point. A firearm is a tool, and if kids aren't taught to handle it properly, it becomes easier to misuse them. If you simply teach your kids that guns are bad, you put them at risk. Oh, you hope they never encounter one, but if they did, the 'forbidden fruit' principal comes into play. Wouldn't you prefer, if this should happen, that they, at least, have the knowledge to handle it safely. It's something you can't control, so at least do your due diligence and prepare them for the worst.

They were talking about something similar to this on the news, kids are shooting guns at ranges to show them that they aren't toys but that they are tools that need to be respected and used responsibly, good for them!

I have a pool and spa in my backyard.  There are more ways than one that a kid could get killed in my pool.  And yet, the gun in the safe by my bed is the focus?  I agree with Billy, this is absurd.

That's because when you drown, it's just you. If somebody was holding you under water, that's a different issue. IMHO
