What's holding me back is my laptop not being compatible with Win11

Holding me back from using Windows 11?
- Sick and tired of having to hack my Windows Install to do a local install
- Sick and tired of having to install a bunch of software on top of Windows 11 to make it as usable as I am used to
- The lack of performance because of choices Microsoft makes for you and not offers to you
- Sick of all the 'Telemetry' spyware that it runs and all the adware it runs.
- Don't trust TPM for good reasons
- Haven't trusted Microsoft for a fair while now
- I can game most of my games on Linux so I am learning Linux Mint and am currently dual booting it.

Signed a Windows 8 early adopter who used Windows since Windows 3, and IT professional who was largely trained on the Windows Platform, and someone with 17 years on Steam.

What's holding me back?
Windows 10 feels like my home. Our home on planet Earth.
Windows 11 feels like being on another planet that's highly unadaptable, for everyone's reasons.

What's holding me back - no good reason to update except of course that 10's security support is ending, other than that it's fine as is. plus plenty of reasons not to, like sloppy Copilot AI, Recall spyware, more bloat, reports of computers running slower with 11, and of course my pretty recent PC isnt supported anyway.

I still need some windows specific software so while I'm enjoying Debian on laptop, I've just got to fight to keep my PC living as long as I can I guess.

1. Recall

2. Microsofts absolute insitance in hiding everyday features behind sub menus.

I don't meet the requirements for windows 11 nor do I have the money for a compatible PC

Now you stay on Windows 10 until software companies force you to update by making all their software not work on Windows 10. Then you find ways to bypass that and if that fails go to Linux.

The slower speed, the constant blue screens and things not working properly that's why I don't swap to windows 11

Damn, I remember when 10 years ago I was firstly introduced to Windows 10, and after these years its ending.

Windows 10 looks better, feels better, and in my experience has had way less issues than windows 11. I’ve had certain fps issues, application issues, and more things that are just not worth the hassle over.

What’s holding me back is the design and performance. For some strange reason my pc performs slow on windows 11 and the design of it doesn’t seem to be cool enough for me to like it. It’s basically windows 10 taskbar with blue logo instead of the black or white regular logo.

What’s holding me back is the arbitrary system requirements that block any pc over 3 years old. My pc works perfectly fine, I can run gta v on max settings and yet I have to buy an entirely new system if I want to keep my credit card info? What about my laptops, I have 2. Do I just have to completely throw them out? And buy two new much more expensive laptops?

Win11 doesn't work on my current PC, and I am not going to fork out a lot of money for an OS that is bloated, spies on you and is running AI and other stuff I don't want. When 10 goes into the toilet I will run a Linux Distro that I can fully customize to my needs.

What could be stopping people is incompatible hardware, and we all know hardware can be very expensive especially for some smaller businesses. There are workarounds to running Windows 11 on incompatible hardware but non tech savvy users probably wouldn't feel comfortable doing this to their computer and Windows 11 is made to run on newer hardware for a reason.

I switched back to 10. It’s significantly faster on my laptop compared to 11, I could not believe my eyes when I hit my windows key and windows 10 brings up its tiles instantly rather then waiting 30seconds-2minutes for my windows to pop up and let me use it. I have lost .03%-2% in performance in gaming but have received a huge productivity boost of around 30%. Safe to say I’m happy knowing that my beloved windows 10 is still operating strong

I saw my friend using Windows 11 on his laptop and ask him to let me use for a minutes, just to take a look and just looking around, it feels strange, like been into a strange city from different country. When I use Win7 in 2019 and upgrading to Win10, it feels like an upgraded version, so I'm comfortable with it. One thing I miss Win7 is I can use classic Windows theme, I love the simple classic Win98 style, I just wish I can do it on Win10 without hacking.
