Being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) can lead to a lot of questions; ‘Why me?”, “Why now?”, “What’s next?”. In this video I chat with Mathew Embry from MS Hope about these questions and how we make sense of our illness. Learn how he found answers to these questions as he created his autobiographical documentary Living Proof and over the past 25+ years living with MS. We discuss how living with MS has changed us and evolved over the years and how deciding ‘What’s next?’ can help us live well with our MS.

Great interview Vickie! Matthew’s perspective is spot on Life happens FOR you not TO you We have to put in the work every day (take the 5 minute self destruction talk if necessary) and keep going Motivations are available if you reach out Happiness is a culmination of great body fuel, clear mind, proper circadian rhythm, daily movement, and socializing with the right people There’s no quick fix, easy way, or “I wish I could” 💪🏼

I definitely had a why me moment. I had a moment when I was mad at my brain as in I took care of you my whole life, and this is how you repay me. I never smoked, occasionally drunk, been doing sport all my life. Long story short, 8 years later still symptom free. The first MRI was not directly related to it (I think). For the past 6 months I have been following a mix of Wahls Protocol + Best Bet. No new lesions without a DMT. I am however now on tysabri because I live in a country where it is free and very easily accessible. I take this DMT as a precaution. 2 infusions and no side effect whatsoever. Thank you to everyone sharing their knowledge on the internet. What a time to be alive

Great interview. I was thinking that I have never referred to it as "my MS". To me no matter how it shows itself, walking or rolling, I have found contentment. It has been a true blessing for me. Every day may not be a great day but is always a good day.

Great interview! There is uncertainty for everyone, not just for people with MS, and my advice for anyone who is going through that anxiety is to look at life, and your future as an unwritten book. The chapters are your past, and you have the ability to write your own story, if life was going to be easy, it'd be a pretty boring story!

No joke, but I also asked the same question of, "Why me?!" when I was diagnosed with MS in 2016. Overtime, I'm definitely trying to open up to friends and family about my diagnosis. It's very scary for me personally to bring up a topic that was so painful to others.

Are you struggling with the “why” questions? Have you been able to shift to “what’s next?”

The dr I follow for nutritional information also says it’s not your fault this happened but it is your responsibility now. I heard that a couple days ago. I never blamed myself. I have to continually not think about fault because I absolutely do place blame on certain institutions for deception, lies and propaganda. I will always know we have an enemy, however, I also have a Savior and one that guides me through life. I just found out this is MS but I have been given wisdom and guidance for a very long time to where I know mostly what to do already, which is really no different than I had already learned what to do about other health challenges. It’s just all the more important now than it was a year ago.

Awesome interview with Matt, Vicki! He's doing so much good in getting the nutrition message out there. May I ask whether you used Streamyard or which software to record it? The picture was really clear.

Hi! I am from Phoenix AZ. I was diagnosed in 2004 but believe I had symptoms since the early 1990s when I was in college. I am currently 53 and I am having a bad time with my MS. I have seen some research with fibromyalgia (I have FMS also) and anemia (also have). Can you look into these and other conditions that can be seen with MS? I am not talking about heart disease, stroke, diabetes, etc which are common to a lot of the population. thank you, Susan H.
