My husband and I were out with his parents for dinner and a random waitress came over and said to him "Im sorry, but are you a firefighter" he said yes and she was like "It was the mustache!" And told us how her dad had been a firefighter for almost 30 years and still couldn't grow the stache he wanted lmao

Was diagnosed in March, a week later had a orchiectomy. The year has been difficult. Regardless of how financially prepared, or mentally prepared you are. You are not prepared. If you feel something, say something. Good luck on the mustaches amigos. Thanks for bringing awareness! PURPLE HOPE MONTH!

I'm dedicating this Movember to a friend who died last Feb when his tanker truck rolled while responding to a crash, remember: a FULL tanker truck handles VERY differently on ice than an empty one. Anyone who isn't a member, take it easy on the roads in the winter, it's not just you at risk, but the other drivers, and the emergency responders who ultimately have to come save you.

No-Shave-November/ Movember started as the usual excuse to be lazy and not shave. But ever since my grandfather passed away, I use November to grow out a beard very similar to his so that I can hug my grandmother on Christmas Day with Grandpa's beard.

When I took my welding course, all the guys who could grow one, had a full beard and 'stache combo. Believe it or not, it protected our faces from flying slag when chipping the crap off our welds.
I was curious and tweaked my facial hair style to try and look like one of my bearded heroes. It looked so f***ing bad, I had to shave clean and start over. Not two days later did I chip slag off my weld, and caught a piece in the corner of my mouth. Yeah it instantly bounced off my skin, but it still left a nasty burn that blistered, bled and scabbed.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that my class started in October, and lasted 10 weeks. The administrator for the school, while getting ready in the morning, used her mascara brush to paint a different style mustache on her upper lip every day of November in support of 'The Boys.'

Before I moved, one of our frequent flyers was a guy who (amongst other things) was being treated for Prostate Cancer. My father was diagnosed in May and a good friend had a close call this year as well. Needless to say I have a new level of appreciation for Men's Health Issues, and will be talking to my doctor at my next checkup... Also I'm totally rocking this mustache.

We like to think the boys on our crew are lunatics with super powers. We’re just lunatics, I guess!

Another awesome, informative video, Sir.

Fun fact for those that didn't know, Movember started here in Australia in 2003. I'd grow a mo but I already have one attached to my beard.

Who says Movember is just for guys? I'll be growing my mustache out too, much to everyone's horror!

I have never been able to participate in Movember because I really do not grow facial hair well. Not only does my facial hair grow slowly, to the point that I only need to shave approximately once or twice a week, but if I miss a shave I look like I lost a fight with a squirrel and the longer I let it grow the more pathetic the small animal I look like I lost a fight to.

My two corrections are this. First is that Movember is not just about testicular cancer but also prostate cancer (because it's the most common cancer in men older than 45) and mental health because men make up the majority statistic of self inflicted death. Second is that it's not just the US but world wide (hi from Canada) as i believe the headquarters of the Movember foundation is based in Australia. So when you grow an epic stash for Movember you aren't just supporting your neighbour but your brothers across the borders and oceans as well.

Here in Australia its a general mens health event, goes towards awareness for mens mental health and stuff like that aswell

I love a beard. My ex of 6 years wouldn't grow one until I asked since his was patchy. A few months of leaving it alone allowed it to fully fill in. He kept it once we broke up

I am solidly in that second category Jason and quite happy with it. I suppose if I really wanted to then I could join the filtration mask gang but I don't want to eat even more of my hair when talking than I already do.

When I got into firefighting my local volunteer department had some fellas that looked like they were still rocking their mustaches right off the set of Emergency in the 70's. Around here were refer to it affectionately as, "The Broom."
