Hands on Math Solutions to Build Mastery

Homeschool math outside the box of tradition! I love homeschool curriculum (I'm a total addict and hoarder to be more specific) but when ti comes to math lessons, sometimes we need to slow down and zone in on a topic so we can truly master it in our homeschooling journey. Addition and subtraction are some of those foundational concepts that really can't be missed or pushed along. So I have been forced to get creative in my homeschool and think more hands on. Here are a few simple things to add to your homeschool day and homeschool math lessons to help your child master addition, master subtraction, and do hands on math... the fun way!

I bought some ten sided dice (0-9) for $3 on Amazon. My 5 year old loves adding them and my 3 year old loves working on number recognition. I didn't even think of Domino's and will definitely be pulling them out now.

If you haven’t read Let’s Play Math by Denise Gaskins you need to read her books!

What’s your thoughts on math u see? I was looking at intertwining it with what we use so that when I see them struggling with a concept we could slow down and focus on it. I’m on the fence though because of the cost and unsure of how applicable it will be with what we are using. CLE is a spiral approach vs mastery so if they don’t line up with content to some degree I don’t know if it will work. I’ve also considered getting just the manipulatives without the books and dvd instruction
