The 2018 CrossFit Open Workout 18.1 -- Tips, Strategy and Tricks featuring Brooke Ence standards

Trifecta's Brooke Ence drops a bunch of great tips to help you dominate the first workout in The 2018 Reebok® CrossFit® Games Open -- 18.1. Trifecta will be releasing new Strategy and Tips videos each week!

Please checkout the standards video's from CrossFit® prior to attempting this workout, and make sure you're following proper form.

The workout consists of:
A 20 Minute AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) of
8 Toes to Bar
10 Dumbbell Hang Clean and Jerk's( 5 each arm, not alternating)
Rowing: 14 Calories for men, 12 Calories for women

**note: Brooke is demoing the transition between dumbbells. 5 Dumbbell Hang clean and jerks are to be completed on each arm before transitioning.

MY BAD- actually my coaches bad. ON THE DUMBBELL SNATCH you just bring the DB below the chin before lowering. Finding out now that the DM CNJ is different. You may lower it however you need

I love that all these top-level Crossfit athletes are creating quality content that actually helps out those in the community who want to perform well and get better at Crossfit. I remember back in the day when all we had was Rich Froning deceiving us (rather intelligently) and not giving us the real answers lol (how he actually follows structured programming not just random on the fly workouts, eats steak and whole milk and eggs, not just peanut butter, etc.) and HQ's Rich and Dan content which taught us nothing except that Rich and Dan are beasts. So this definitely helps.

You also have to make sure where doing the toes to bar that the feet swing past the hips at the back before you swing up towards the bar again. Another very important point, which got Samantha Briggs no reps in the first two sets, you have to stand straight up with the dumbbell bringing it to your hips before cleaning it when you start. Love you Brooke and thank you for the tips.

I am fairly certain you have to do 5 dumbbell hanging clean and jerks on one arm before you switch. You didn’t make that clear in this video Brooke! Might want to address that in description or something...

you need to complete 5 on each arm before you move to the other arm.

Movement Standards for 18.1 says: “Athletes may use two hands while lowering the dumbbell between reps.”

You don’t need to be below your chin when changing between hands..
