It was -45°C here in Ottawa without the windchill a couple weeks ago and even my 2009 Pontiac Torrent AWD didn't hesitate or have a check engine light go on.

...but almost every car will have the check engine light light up when it is this cold?!
I live in Canada and I have never heard of or seen such a thing.  Have this car checked out because it is NOT normal...

I live in the deep freeze of New York and have been daily driving a 2012 Honda pilot... With 30, 000 heavily used miles it has not once skipped a start or gave a single engine light. Even when it was -8 out.

What code was set when the check engine light came on?  Manufacturers usually test their vehicles in cold weather and I don't think the check engine light is supposed to come on.  I don't think its "normal."  There must be something actually wrong with the vehicle.

Very disappointed about Nissan’s quality. They are not able to address the transmission shuddering problem for more than a year. Now, you got the CEL on a brand new vehicle.

Automobile Magazine ragged on this pretty hard.  The drive-train is a mess.

Almost 50k for a Pathfinder that gets same fuel mileage as the V6? Either you are rich or dumb to buy the hybrid. Give me a stock AWD model for 26k instead please.
