Old video I know, but, when I got this pedal (cheap used) I found a good use was to use it to cut out the bass / flub of the guitar, and then Boost the bass back up on the amp. Seems counter-intuitive but it lets you have big low end the way you like, but 'tight' and responsive.

You forgot to run a 7 Strong through it. The attack knob is to tighten up the lows. It also gives a single coil attack to your humbuckers without all the feedback and thinness of a single coil.
The noisegate is to do stop-and-go, staccato riffing. He probably uses a second noisegate in the Axe Fx and adjusts this to taste.

From my many years of experimenting, it seems that certain overdrive pedals pair with certain amps better than others. I'd love to have heard that Precision drive with your Hughes and Kettner Warp. I had one and know they are voiced very dark and know they could benefit from a pedal that increases the mids.

The 5150/6505 can get fairly bright and cuts well so I think about any overdrive would work well with it..even a Boss SD1.

Get a Pro Tone Attack Drive it is really a modded Tube Screamer with a 6 position switch to tighten your sound. Misha was using this pedal before he designed his own so don't tell me they did not borrow from it. The Attack does not kill your Tube amp sound it just takes the Tube Screamer you probably have and make it better. It also is killer to stack on OD's and Fuzz pedals too. If you run pedals into a clean amp it is a must have.

You don't really want too much low end because you'll drown out the bass player I usually stay in the highs and mids I leave the lows to the bass player for a more rounded sound when its all put together

I agree with you about the pedal sucking out the low end. I bought the pedal because Misha said it's a "modern" overdrive and wouldn't take out the low end like a tube screamer or maxon 808. It doesn't sound much different than my 808 to my ears. It does work pretty well on low tuned guitars, on drop A it's great.

I think your reviews are highly underrated. Thanks for the info m8

more towards guitars with more than 6 strings. if you have an extended ranged guitar you'll notice by now how muddy things can get, which is why the pedal is more of tightening your low end rather than the used term "sucking the tone out" It's knowing how to dial gain and properly eq where exactly you want your mids. takes a learning curve before using.

best OD pedal Ive owned. plus, by having its own gate, I was able to do away with my NS-2.

I'd probably like to have it in my arsenal. Not like the only overdrive pedal, but It useful to have something different from TS. Thanks for the review, I'll be in the market for a "not another TS" pedal soon, I'll give it a shot.

Have you reviewed the Friedman BE-OD Pedal? It's a KILLER overdrive built by a guy that builds amps and designs pedal boards for the pros. It also has a gate-ish control but it is much more natural. It also has an inner toggle to adjust the amount of gain to three different "starting points" of saturation.

I have one and I agree about the noise gate. I bought a NS2 and put it after the PD and rolled the gate all the way back on the PD and it helped a little bit but I think I'm going to order me another Maxon OD808 tomorrow and use a traditional set up ..

It's nice to see a true review of the pedal instead of "here take this pedal and review it, but if you say anything we don't like we'll ask you to take down the video". Thank you Eric for a real review.

Definitely not worth the $220 but fanboys will jump all over it claiming it’s awesome. I appreciate your review though, it was more honest than 90% of the videos out there.

Well speaking of a guitar player that plays shows and makes pedals there is Kirk Hammett. If you get a chance you should review his KHDK Ghoul Screamer

Can you do a review of the Airis Effects Savage Drive?! I have one with my EVH 5150 50 watt and it sounds thick. I think it would be better for your style.
