TRAIF Preview - Session 1: Welcome Note and Governance Responsible AI in Health Crises
Показать описание
AI is a powerful tool that has the ability to amplify current positive efforts, but also entrench and increase harms and discrimination if not used responsibly. The COVID-19 pandemic has made clear the need for a coordinated, dedicated data and technology infrastructure and an ecosystem for tackling the societal threats. This crisis has also underlined the urgent need to discuss the ethical considerations in the use of AI and develop operational ethical frameworks in the field of AI.
In an effort to expand the scope of research on AI and its use in health-related crises, and to further promote the Global AI Ethics Consortium, the IEAI decided to support five new research projects with a total of €400,000 in funding. The IEAI aims to move out of the general and abstract theories, frameworks and guidelines and provide what is really needed: instructions for applying AI ethics in a way that is technically feasible.
What makes this panel special is that its participants are among the winners of the 2020 Call for Proposals for multi-disciplinary research on Ethics of the use of AI to manage Pandemics and Health-related Crises.
Moderator:
• Christoph Lütge, Technical University of Munich
Speakers:
• Dirk Brand, Stellenbosch University
• Christian Djeffal, Technical University of Munich
• Mark Findlay, Singapore Management University
• Jeannie Marie Paterson, University of Melbourne
• Stefaan Verhulst, New York University
The Responsible AI Forum Preview (#TRAIF_Preview, 12 and 13 November 2020,) was a sneak peek into how the IEAI and its partners (the Global AI Ethics Consortium and the Responsible AI Network Africa) are promoting a sustainable, inclusive and comprehensive framework for the use of AI that delivers global benefit. This event was also a tantalizing teaser of The Responsible AI Forum (#TRAIF2021) that will take place in Munich.
