This is President Jimmy Carter-type inflation. It is not "temporary". It is paradigm-shifting. Before 1976, the average American could buy a new car for $5000 with a two-year payment plan and a house for $30, 000 with a fifteen-year mortgage. After 1981, cars cost $20, 000 and houses were $50, 000. In 2022 new top-model cars cost $60, 000 and nice houses are $300, 000 plus. We've never gone back down to pre-Carter prices. Not unless you consider a stripped-out car and a house in the bad parts of Detroit, MI. This is inflation. It's like putting your foot on a gas pedal. You can have a little inflation (2%) or a lot of inflation (30%) year-over-year, but the parasites at the printing press will never let you go backwards, i.e., deflation (-5%). That would be killing their salaries.
The only question is, do we see Depression-Era austerity between the haves and the have-nots as inflation becomes stagflation, or Wiemar Germany and Lot's France as inflation becomes hyperinflation?
