Use Your FX Loop!!!

I've been wanting to share this video for some time. It's amazing how the same stomp pedals you've used for years sound completely different going through the FX loop. Hopefully I've given some ideas to you to get some great tones you didn't think possible with your current setup.
Take care and I'll see you next week!

I think a lot of people here want a full video about your parrot 😆

The biggest difference to my ears was that EQ through FX-loop. That on sounded really aggressive and tight compared to straight in. That was some good sound.

Great tips. I put my delay in the loop years ago because of Steve Vai. He pointed out that a natural delay is an echo of the sound coming from the speaker. So the closer to the end of your signal the delay is the more natural sounding it should be. Delay the amplifier, instead of amplifying the delay.

Thanks Anthony for teaching us the right way to hook up pedals correctly. You do an amazing job of teaching on your channel. Thank you man.

I agree that the EQ sounds really good in the loop! Some of that might be due to the fact that the original EQ shape through the front was a subtle mid-boost while the EQ shape in the loop was a prominent mid scoop. Anyway, the EQ in the loop seems to sort of mimic what the Mesa Mark V does: a real tone sculpting tool! Thanks for the insight!

You are one of the king of tones on YouTube. The tones you get from your amps are always awesome especially the DSL

Love how your inner aussie came through pronouncing flanga(flanger)

I run a MXR 10 band eq through my effects loop, i highly recommend it, sounds absolutely crushing through the FX loop. Life changing.

EQ in the I learned long ago how much of a useful tool it is. Glad your sharing such helpful knowledge! Be careful with signal boost if the eq has it.

It took me a long time to figure this out. This is a very well done informative video on this topic. Thanks.

I just discovered your channel today, so I'm a little late to the party. Thank you so much for demystifying the effects loop. It was always the jack in the back that I didn't feel qualified to use. 😆
Love your channel.

I'm a big fan of the EQ in the loop just love the punch clarity of it. It's like mixing a natural tone on top of a chainsaw tone the best of both worlds.

Brilliant. What a great channel! I couldn't do without my EQ regardless of what genre I play. You're tones are always on the money.

I recently discovered your videos and I am addicted right now. They are so good. Down to earth and every single detail of the signal chain explained. This is so great! I discovered the same with the EQ in the FX Loop with my JCM 800. I am looking forward to using 3 EQ´s: On before, one after Distortion/overdrive, one in the FX Loop - and play around with it based on the style of music and guitar. The one in the FX Loop is the most important one from my point of view and was a game changer when I was trying to find my Metal sound. Thank you!

LambChopper! Always makes my day when you post videos!! I always run my pedals in front of my amp.. But I got to stop being so lazy and try something new! THANKS

08:28 to clarify :
- EQ in front of the amp will shape the distortion character : tighter, flubbier, beefier, fizzier...
- EQ after the amp (FX loop included) will shape the overall EQ curve of the amp : boomy, scooped, mid heavy, etc

Couldn't put my finger on what I was doing wrong...couldn't get the sound so many times. Watched many videos, watched settings....Then this video! After seeing this, I kicked my self in the but hard! Thanks for sharing, saved me so much time before I figured it out. Well, if I ever did...

Thank you. I find that you take an unbiased and real approach with these videos. It sure did sound worlds apart focusing the fx thru the fx loop. I never fully knew precisely how that worked. Im trying to get a handle on running my behringer fx pedal maybe thru my laptop. I have powered speakers. I have been learning to use N track studio software. It seems there is a wealth of guitar patches online if i can get that up and running.

its fun to look back at you discovering your eq breakthroughs.... there was a time no 10 band or para lived in your loop! crazy!
