Where To Get A Leopard Gecko (and Other Common Reptiles)

Hey everyone! In today's video I share my opinion on where to buy leopard geckos, but this can apply to a number of commonly-kept reptiles. Please keep in mind this is MY OPINION! You are entitled to your own and it's okay if we disagree! :) TLDR of this video: I prefer to get leopard geckos from situations of adoption and rehoming, but buying from an ethical hobbyist breeder is a good choice, too. I do not recommend getting them from pet stores, online or in person, and I do not recommend getting them from unethical breeders (i.e. ones that breed enigmas). Let me know your thoughts below :)

I would love a video on your favorite breeders. I would prefer picking up a gecko from an expo bc shipping scares me so much, i live in a place of the USA where the weather changes so quickly and unpredictably that i do not trust it. Plus you can see the breeder face to face too, not just your gecko, you can see what they seem like and how they speak to other customers etc and you can establish if they are trustworthy enough.

Other cons to shipping are how the package is treated in transit and porch pirates. Picking up an animal in person you don't have to worry about someone playing football with the box or someone deciding that if it isn't nailed down it belongs to them.

I've had some of the most traumatic experiences of my life thanks to Underground Reptiles 😭 lost almost all of my amphibian pets after they sent me an emaciated toad covered in ticks and harboring chytrid which spread throughout my home. Broke my whole soul apart and the company didn't even so much as apologize. LLL Reptiles has been reliable for me, that is where I've gotten my geckos and they have been healthy + customer service has been impeccable but I totally understand the downside to buying from similar companies.

I was at Petco the other day, and saw at least 7 juvie leos in one small 10 gallon tank piled on top of each other labeled "fancy leopard geckos" for $30 each. I have a hard time not walking out with all of them just to get them into a better living environment.

I got my leopard gecko at a local pet store and though it is true I didn’t get to pick some “cool” morph or age I was very happy with where I bought my gecko. There were only 4 geckos at this pet store they take really good care of their animals and maybe I over paid ($80) but I felt like I was getting a very healthy and happy gecko. Patricia has been with me since September of 2021 and she is most the time a happy little gecko. She gets grumpy when in shed but after that she is back to happy, curious and just a sweet sweet girl. I love her so much 🥰

Honestly Morph market is x1000 better than underground reptiles because in morph market you can find you gecko it gives you estimated shipping cost, refund if spammed though I’ve never been. Communication with the seller and they will send pics or not unless after purchase or serious about it usually but still photos up anyways. Morphs are all marked as well so you know the background and also shows location of the seller as well so you can actually see where and the company selling and there background. Plus I love it and if your into sun-glows and tangelos and also GGGs kilos geckos is your person

I made the mistake of purchasing an AFT from Imperial Reptiles, without knowing what the exact gecko looked like. The gecko arrived with a severe underbite and had issues during feedings (bc of the underbite). It was never once listed in the description. I’m happy with him, bc he’s a sweetheart, but it was a bit difficult feeding him as a first time owner.

I got a Hypo Tangerine adult female from LLLReptile. Get my feeders from them too. Would recommend them. Kira is healthy from her shipping. They ship to you or pick up from a UPS customer service center. I did the second option. She was packed perfectly too.

I got my beautiful headache from Craigslist but I was very lucky. Followed all the safety protocols. My Kanna is doing very well and is very active. If you choose to go this route always ask for many phones and ask all the questions and bmnevr go alone to meet with a stranger
