Univac I - UNIVersal Automatic Computer I

The UNIVAC I (UNIVersal Automatic Computer I) was the second commercial computer produced in the United States.[1] It was designed principally by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, the inventors of the ENIAC. Design work was started by their company, Eckert--Mauchly Computer Corporation, and was completed after the company had been acquired by Remington Rand (which later became part of Sperry, now Unisys).

Correction: Yes the tank that the speaker is point too is the memory unit but it did HOLD the memory. The tank was filled with mercury and the information that need to be stored in memory was shot into the tank, slowed by the mercury and would return to the system if it was needed or looped back to the tank. Whereas there are thousands of Univac 1 parts still out there. Only 24 of those red plaques were created. Today one is in the Computer museum (in video) and another can be found in the Smithsonian. Other than those there is only one other plaque remaining and its privately owned.
