exactly fanon dust is nothing like canon dust/murder sans.

if im remembering right murder sans took on all the aus LONG before error sans came around.

he's also not as dumb as fanon dust and doesn't go around acting like a psychopath.

he hides it quite well, and kills in secret for quite a while.

So for me if a character has more then one nickname then i use both nicknames. For example i have both Dust and Murder as two different people. Dust being from Dustale last genocide and Murder being from dusttale. Another thing is that i have dust work with the Murder Time trio/Murder karmatic time trio. But Murder works with the hero time trio. For murder it would make more sense if he worked with the hero time trio. More because the hero time trio doesn't have killer on the team

My version of dust sans called vampiric dust is like murder sans in this regard (he doesn't kill for fun or for gaining levels or anything like that he kills because he has no choice (sometimes that's the only way to deal with bad people) or because it's part of his job (he's basically the grim reaper for his entire multiverse and guides people to there afterlife so it's probably not surprising that every once in a while he needs to kill the person because they don't want want to go to there afterlife) but he's also a protector of his multiverse)
