Trae Young is back in trade rumors once again although this time its more about how his value is much lower than some may expect. Its surprising to many, as Trae is still in the prime of his career and is one of the premiere offensive players in the NBA. But his lackluster defense combined with the unique circumstances the Hawks find themselves in have created a scenario where the Hawks really have no incentive to part ways with Trae...

That playoff game against the Knicks at MSG should have been the star-making performance for Trae Young. I remember when he returned to MSG during an episode of Smackdown, and got booed like hell.

Its just tough to build around a guard like that, the only recent team that is very successful with a heliocentric small guard is the knicks and maybe the warriors, but it takes a crazy front office to build around one of these players bc you need to find cheap, 2way wings, the most valuable archetypes in the NBA

As a Hawks fan, the front office incompetence is honestly the biggest issue. Trae hasn’t had a really well built team around him since we drafted him. Not to mention we been stuck in very mid territory during his era

–Improve his efficiency
–Change his shot diet
–Cut down turnovers
–Build more muscle
–Improve on defense
–Learn to play off-ball more

The Spurs already said they weren’t interested in Trae. That’s why they got CP3. I just think he needs the ball in his hands, we’ve already seen that he cannot play offball. Let’s see how this season goes when he’s healthy and with a roster shakeup then go from there

Why would we trade Trae? We have a really solid young core with JJ, OO, Risacher, Hunter, Trae and DD. Oldest player there is 26 with Hunter. If Snyder can put this core together, and they develop well, that's one of the best young cores in the league.

Trae is a victim of the hawks trash ownership. Went for a terrible trade for another ball dominant pg, gave John Collins 100 mil to dunk a basketball, got rid of the 6th man section in the stands to cut costs essentially allowing opposing fans to flood the stadium (as if they weren’t already filling out the arena). It’s very clear that the hawks make moves to not be bad in the most cheap way possible, they do not intend on seriously contending

why would he have trade value? career .500 player.
traded for Luka plus more. so his initial draft value was insanely high.
isnt a great shooter despite many people thinking he is.
has not had a good playoff series in 4 years now
gets r called overrated by other players (player voted)
yes has stats but has a lot of turnovers.
effort on defense is amazingly bad plus lowest ceiling for defense in general
has clashed with coaches and other players in the locker room.
and lets not forget he just ripped his own rookie teammate. whether it is true or not that hes gonna be a role player you don't do that especially when you have a rep for causing issues.

i think the hawks want number 1option value for him and other teams are refusing that.
