The Hubble Space Telescope has just discovered first direct evidence of a planet forming. The brand-new bouncing baby planet that has been baptized AB Aurigae B. Weighing in at 9 times the size of our neighborhood big boy Jupiter, the new cosmic body is already smashing dogma about how gas giants are formed. Using the Hubble Space Telescope and the Subaru at the peak of a Hawaiian volcano - scientists are trying to learn the new recipe for the birth of a titan planet.

🌏 Will humanity ever move to another Earth-like planet?

Nature never ceases to amaze me especially some of the discoveries y'all make I understand about 3/4 of what you're saying I've always been interested in space ever since I was a kid like any kid I dreamed it one day being an astronaut but that never happened and I watch as many programs like this as I can I'm 69 now and I still get a kick out of shows like this and I probably will rest of my life keep up the good work guys

WoW! It's incredible to think that the star AB Aurigae is only 2 million years old! Also the fact that Aurigae B is a staggering 2 X the distance from it's host star, as Pluto is from our own sun is just jaw dropping vast. I am intrigued as to know whether any other planets are forming within this new suns sphere of influence?. Thank you for yet Another Astounding video👍

Was actually disgusted about the disrespect towards Hawaii.

You're not telling the whole story about why the native Hawaiians don't want the new telescope put up. They don't want it put up because when they allowed the first one to go up they had a deal or a contract with the University of Hawaii who runs the telescope and the deal was that they will keep it respectful they would keep it clean they wouldn't destroy anything in the process. And in the process of building it a lot of shit was destroyed and after that it's like a fucking trash pile people fucking just throwing shit on the ground. They didn't hold up their side of the deal and that's what the big issue is. I don't usually side with religious or spiritual people I think that shit is fucking silly but on this one I do I side with the Hawaiians because they signed a deal or they had a verbal deal or contractual deal and they didn't hold up to it so no they shouldn't be able to build another telescope until they make everything right.

Don't upgrade the Subaru telescope too much, blow a damn head gasket.

Problem is you still have light pollution from the active Kilauea Volcano which broke the record with the longest eruption in recorded history, lasting not days, weeks, months or even years but decades! It took a short break but has now woken back up!

Wait isn't that the narrator from Ridddle?🤔

so ? is if we could extract all the gases from there atmosphere some how would u have a useable planet one day or should i say could u terraform these monster planets somehow

I need to look into the differences between the Subaru and the Keck observatory. Subaru is something lime an 8.5 meter mirror shere Keck is two 10 meter mirrors. Wonder why the smaller was the one chosen for this? I mean was there a technical reason, or was it a political or perhaps simply a scheduling or cost issue?

That must have been one huge scale to be able to weigh a planet.

This is amazing!
But how did we calculate the age of this Star, AB Aurigae at "only" 2 million years old?

It’s a Super Jupiter, there are Many of them.

Jupiter has a solid surface, gas or not, the impacts of that comet breakup proved they hit solid, and left scarring

A telescope on top of a mountain in Hawaii will never be bothered by lights in the US, too far away & over the horizon.

Why not find a different location for the telescope?
