I remember using one of these way back when it wasn't that old, and while I do remember loud, annoying effects, nothing quite that warbly or squelchy; maybe there are some bad caps or something?

I wonder if that could be muffled in any way. Silence would be no good but that thing might as well be an alarm clock. Fun game otherwise.

Wow that is some horrid sound. I vaguely remember Galaxian being similar in that respect.
