The Mannheim school of composers, led by Stamitz, steered significant musical developments during the second half of the eighteenth century. This music appreciation lesson explains some of their most significant innovations and explains the impact they had on the course of music. An often underestimated group, their contribution was huge. Apart from the development of the Symphony and of Sonata Form, the inclusion of the Clarinet, and the simplification of the Baroque style they initiated, they also introduced fun devices such as the Mannheim Rocket, the Mannheim Birds, and the Mannheim Sigh.
