How to Fix Windows 10 Screen Brightness Control Not Working

There are several ways to fix the Screen brightness problem on Windows 10. When you are experiencing this proplem, the screen brightness may not change despite moving the slider.

The main way to fix this problem is to update or modify the drivers for monitor. This video shows how you can easily do so.

if your monitor's brightness button is greyed out, it might be on eco mode. that's what mine was one. simply change the mode off (when i pressed the first button on my monitor, it opened a tab of modes like eco, racing or user. I use user simply because I can change what I want.)

Hi! I have no options to change the display brightness on windows 10 desktop (even on System). I only have NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550Ti under Display Adapters and it won't update. Any help please? Thank you so much!

I tried updating drivers for weeks and it didn't work. I JUST fixed it by going to Device Manager, clicking Display Adapters, right clicking the adapter underneath which in my case was "AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 Graphics" then clicking "Roll Back Driver". Works like a charm again and now I can use my laptop at night without burning my eyes!

thanks dude! i followed till the second way, in between my PC hanged and I cancelled the installation of the drivers(even after if said that cancelling the installation might cause PC to be unstable). I closed the installation and checked again for brightness controls, and it worked. thanks dude.

So, I tried everything in the video, then restarted my laptop to no avail. As a last resort, I used the "Intel Driver Support & Assistant" link and downloaded the "assistant." After downloading it, a prompt appeared asking me to restart my computer. During all this, a new window in Chrome opened, on the Intel website, with details about my laptop. There was also something that read, "1 software update available." Regardless of this, I restarted my laptop. As it was coming back on, I noticed the screen brightness flicker a little, while the screen was black, before the Window's sign-in prompt. I don't what happened but my brightness controls are now working again. Thus far, I only downloaded the "assistant" as opposed to any individual drivers. Does anyone know what happened?

Thank you. This high brightness had been messing with my eyes for the past couple of weeks and I didn't know what to do. Turns out all I had to do was sit patiently while waiting for my pc to fully update. Thank you.
